  2. We confirm availability — you'll hear from us within 2–4 hours by phone or email.
  3. Secure payment sent — once confirmed, we send a Stripe payment link or Venmo request to collect the rental fee and $350 refundable deposit.
  4. Deposit returned — your $350 deposit is refunded after the rental, provided the vessel is returned in the same condition.

Florida Boating License Requirements

Florida law requires anyone born on or after January 1, 1988 to pass a boating safety exam before operating a motorized vessel. Here's everything you need to know before your rental.

Who Needs It?

If you were born on or after January 1, 1988, you are required by Florida law to hold a valid Boating Safety Education ID Card or a Temporary Boating Certificate to operate a motorized vessel. A valid driver's license is also required for all operators.

Don't have a permanent boating license? Florida offers a 90-day Temporary Certificate through a quick online exam — perfect for renters. The exam is 25 questions and you need 19 correct to pass. You can complete it from any device before your rental day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — boating experience is required. All operators must have at least 3–5 years of boating experience. A valid driver’s license is required for all operators, and a boating license is required if you were born after January 1, 1988. We provide a full dock orientation before departure.

Every rental includes life jackets for all passengers, all required USCG safety equipment, a navigation guide, and a full dock orientation. Fuel is additional — you only pay for what you use, and we’ll explain our simple refueling process upon booking confirmation.

Absolutely. BYO food and beverages are welcome. Alcohol is permitted for passengers but not for the boat operator. Please pack out all trash and leave the vessel clean.

Your safety comes first. If conditions are unsafe to boat — such as lightning, high winds, or an active small craft advisory — a full refund will be issued. We will notify you as early as possible on your rental day if we need to cancel for weather.

A $350 refundable damage deposit is collected via Stripe or Venmo when you confirm your booking. It is fully refunded after the rental provided the vessel is returned in the same condition it was rented, with no damage beyond normal wear and tear.

Yes! We are pet-friendly. Please let us know in your booking request and ensure your pet is supervised at all times on the water.

We launch from two locations: the Imperial River Ramp at 27551 S Tamiami Trl, Bonita Springs, FL 34134 (our main location), and Lovers Key Boat Ramp at 8700 Estero Blvd, Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931. You select your preferred launch location when booking.

Cancellations made 48 hours or more before your reservation receive a full refund. Cancellations within 48 hours are non-refundable. No-shows forfeit the full rental amount.

Terms & Conditions

Please review the following before booking. By submitting a reservation request you agree to these terms.

Eligibility & ID

  • Minimum operator age is 21 with a valid government-issued driver’s license.
  • A boating license is required if born after January 1, 1988.
  • All passengers must have an ID available upon request.

Damage Deposit

  • A $350 refundable damage deposit is collected via Stripe or Venmo at booking confirmation.
  • Deposit is returned within 3–5 business days after the rental if no damage is reported.
  • Renter is liable for any damage beyond normal wear and tear.

Fuel Policy

  • Fuel is not included in the rental rate.
  • You only pay for the fuel you use — our simple top-off process is explained at check-in.
  • Vessels are provided with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank or fuel charges apply.

Cancellation Policy

  • 48+ hours before: Full refund.
  • Within 48 hours: Non-refundable.
  • No-show: Full rental amount forfeited.
  • Weather cancellations initiated by us are always fully refunded or rescheduled.

On-Water Rules

  • Life jackets must be worn by all children under 6 at all times.
  • No operator may consume alcohol while operating the vessel.
  • Renter assumes full responsibility for all passengers.
  • Vessels must remain within designated operating areas.

Return & Liability

  • Vessels must be returned by the agreed end time. Late returns may incur additional charges.
  • Renter is responsible for any fines, citations, or damages incurred during the rental period.
  • Borrow-A-Boat is not liable for personal injury, loss of property, or acts of nature.
